The Cordova Community Council is nurturing the growth and advancement of the Rancho Cordova Historical Society (RCHS). A group of interested individuals successfully launched their group in 2010. Since that time the group has persevered, sponsoring historical displays and events. They most recently helped launch Digital Grapevine, and celebrate the historic Lincoln Highway!
With the support of the Cordova Community Council, the Historical Society has embarked on an ambitious project to record the oral histories of Rancho Cordova’s longtime residents. The Historical Society also participates with captivating exhibits at various venues, hosts a regular speaker series and more..
Of particular interest is the preservation of artifacts from the early days of Rancho Cordova, when grape-growing and agriculture were king; preservation of Rancho Cordova’s gold-dredging past; and securing Rancho Cordova’s high-flying history as it relates to Mather Air Force Base and Aerojet.
Corporate partners are being sought to propel the Rancho Cordova Historical Society forward in its quest to preserve local history. This is an excellent opportunity for those with an interest and investment in history to team up with citizens who are dedicated to the same.
