Rancho Cordova: Living the Arts!

The Cordova Community Council continues the exploration of the arts as we move into 2018. We have been surprised and uplifted by a groundswell of enthusiasm and dedication among local artists and performers who are leading the way with stimulating visual art exhibits and approachable musical performances by the Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra and Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band.
Our fresh take on the arts requires an appreciation and nurturing of the artists among us, creating opportunities to showcase their many talents. The Rancho Cordova Arts Council meets once a month to compare notes and find avenues of collaboration among the visual and musical arts organizations, and together are adding many activities to our growing arts calendar. They are excitedly looking forward to the evolution of the Mills Station Building, and the many opportunities for artful expression which await. Magic-Maker sponsors may select “Arts Patron” as part of their sponsorship package or add it on as an upgrade. Please consult our website for current offering on the “Patrons of the Arts” webpage.

Mills Station Arts & Culture Center
The MACC - the Mills Station Arts & Culture Center - opens its doors in 2018 to exhibits by local artists, workshops, history displays, cultural demonstrations, and so much more. The Mills Station Building, built in 1911 as a meeting place for farmers and a stopping place for travelers, has always been a center of Rancho Cordova community energy. Now, a unique collaboration of the City of Rancho Cordova, Regional Transis, Sacramento County, and the Cordova Community Council will animate this storied building once more. Stay tuned as the MACC comes to life.
Rancho Cordova Visual Arts
This is the visual component of our arts initiative. Driven by active artists in the community, the group organizes fine art exhibits and a speaker series aimed at developing professionalism among local artists, recruiting artist volunteers, and more. Bringing art to children in the community is also part of Rancho Cordova Arts. Check out our calendar of events for ways to experience the arts in Rancho Cordova.

The Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra celebrates its fifth birthday in January 2018. These accomplished volunteer musicians are growing and evolving before our very eyes. Conductor Pete Nowlen says the orchestra performs “beautiful music presented in interesting and accessible ways,” and with 60+ musicians is making its mark, playing familiar music in unusual settings as they seek new ways to appreciate fine music. The orchestra currently has concerts scheduled for January 6, April 7, October 13, and December 14, 2018.
