When Truett Cathy founded Chick-fil-A more than 60 years ago, he created a culture that values people that is the envy of many.
“Nearly every moment of every day we have the opportunity to give something to someone else – our time, our love, our resources,” Cathy once said.
Truett Cathy is no longer with us, but his philosophy is alive and well thanks to owner Liviu Vizitiu (pronounced “leave you – visit you”) at Chick-fil-A Rivergate Cordova. And that is why they are this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Business Partner Award.
Every year, Chick-fil-A supports literally dozens of Rancho Cordova organizations with unrelenting donations of delicious products that would make the Colonel blush.
At River City Christian, Chick-fil-A donated products to Summer Blast, Harvest Festival, Christmas Mall, plus raffle items. They were recently honored as River Christian’s Community Partner for donating product valued in excess of $10,000. Wow.
They answered the call from It Takes Lincoln Village and they beat a Chick-fil-A pathway to the campus of Cordova High, providing food donations to Cordova High’s Link Crew, soccer and football teams, plus campus lunch days.
They have fed gymnasts at Technique, the lunch bunch at the Rancho Cordova Luncheon, sports legends and fans alike at the Rancho Cordova Sports Hall of Fame, and on and on and on.
They have supported Explore Rancho Cordova and Rancho Cordova Little League on top of hosting 15 in-store fundraising and spirit nights benefitting multiple schools including Cordova High, Mitchell Middle School, Williamson Elementary, Gold River Discovery School – and more.
We know that companies can no longer afford to profit at the expense of the people or the planet. Being good is not a five-year plan, nor is it a sparkly marketing campaign.
In our community, nobody does it better than Chick-fil-A. Remember that the next time you sink your teeth into a Spicy Deluxe or a Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap. Because founder Cathy also once famously said: “Food is essential to life, therefore make it good.”
Congratulations to Liviu Vizitiu and the team at Chick-fil-A – Distinguished Community Business Partner.
