River City Rentals

Whenever the word citizenship comes up, we tend to think about it in terms of human beings. But business citizenship is important too, and we can’t think of a better example than our friends at River City Rentals.

River City was established in 1984 as a locally-owned construction-oriented rental store in Rancho Cordova.  You’ve probably passed by their location on Folsom Boulevard, where lines of heavy equipment stand at the ready.

Having River City as a neighbor of the Mine Shaft property, which is owned by the Cordova Community Council, has led to some neighborly support from this Rancho Cordova business.

The company for many years has loaned boom-lifts and scissor-lifts and other equipment lending the team of volunteers preparing for Heartstoppers Haunted House an invaluable helping hand.  The generosity from River City Rentals allows Heartstoppers to maximize their fundraising for non-profits that – after all – is what it is all about.  It’s an equipment donation worth thousands of dollars.

We love the night when the gang at River City, their families in tow, visit Heartstoppers to have their pants scared off, closing a circle of giving and gratitude that makes a city of people and businesses great.

River City sort of watches out for the Mine Shaft, too.  When last January’s bomb cyclone winds toppled electronic signage, River City showed up with a crane to set it straight again. Nobody asked, they just saw a need they could fill, and filled it.

River City quietly supports community non-profits in ways that almost go unnoticed. For example, they make it possible for the Rancho Cordova Jr. Lancers to light their practice fields in the fall, when the sun sets early, benefiting dozens of future Super Bowl stars.

When we think about what makes a great community business, we think about those that believe that a company doesn’t have the singular responsibility of maximizing its profits.

Companies should also contribute to the general well-being of the community where they operate.  At the heart of good corporate citizenship lies the goal of making the world a better place for everyone.

And that’s true of River City Rentals.

So to General Manager Matt Cravenho and all our mateys at River City Rentals:  Ahoy and we wish you fair winds!  Congratulations and thanks to you, our Outstanding Business Partner.
