Distinguished Community Business Partner

ECMC Group
If you are a business dedicated to student success in college, it may seem a stretch to make big contributions to tiny tots. Not so, says ECMC, our Distinguished Business Partner. It all adds up in the end.

ECMC Group is a nonprofit corporation with a mission to help students succeed. All companies in the ECMC Group family work together to fulfill this mission through product and service support and by funding its philanthropic activities through ECMC Foundation.

ECMC stands for “Educational Credit Management Corporation.” It is a national company which services millions of dollars in student loans in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education. Nationwide, they have 1,900 employees, including 265 of them working out of an office at Mather. Their impact nationwide is considerable, and what they are doing here as volunteers is huge.

ECMC has been supporting Rancho Cordova activities that take a long look at student success for many years. Making large financial contributions they have supported students at Mills Middle School, among others. They have been generous is supporting programs aimed at encouraging success among homeless students for years, with cash donations used to address pressing needs.

A recent example is closing the gap this winter in a drive to collect warm coats for homeless students – 150 were needed. ECMC stepped in with cash to purchase 50 of them to make the campaign a success.

They are also considered Superheroes over at the Sacramento Children’s Museum, located right in this complex.

They recently donated $25,000 to support start-up the Children’s Museum’s Explorability Program, for children on the autism spectrum.

They donated another $50,000 to fund the purchase of a van for the Museum’s “Van-Go” program, which brings programs on the road to schools and other kids which may not otherwise have access to the wonders of the Children’s Museum.

Director Sharon Stone Smith told us that ECMC is a great mix of financial and hands-on support.

For example, Mather office employees conducted a book drive for the museum’s Little Free Library and prepped products for use at the museum’s play grocery store. They provided muscle for annual spring cleaning at the museum and so much more. But when they needed a van, ECMC did not hesitate to write a check.

ECMC is a non-profit business which believes in funding opportunities for their employees to get involved to improve the communities in which they are located.

They focus on projects that promote success of students of all abilities, removing barriers that may be in the way. Employees at the Mather office are doing a great job of watching over the Rancho Cordova community, and jumping in where they see a pressing need they can help address.

Thank you ECMC for your continuing support of students in our community. From the tiniest littles at the Children’s Museum, to the neediest among students who must carry the burden of homelessness in the struggle to get an education, you are where the rubber meets the road. Thank you – you are true Superheroes!

Accepting the award on behalf of ECMC is Sabrina Berg, Senior Community Relations Special for the ECMC Group.
