2026 Honorees
Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy
Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy
Distinguished Service by a Faith Organization.

Sometimes a team doesn’t wear jerseys.

They don’t show up on the scoreboard.

You won’t see their stats in the box score.

But when the pressure is on… when the clock is winding down… when life feels like overtime — they’re exactly who you want on the court.

It is an honor to recognize the Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy for Distinguished Community Service by a Faith Organization.

In law enforcement, the stakes are high. Split-second decisions. Emotional highs and heartbreaking lows. And like basketball, the toughest moments happen up close — personal, intense, and heavy.

That’s where the Chaplaincy steps in.

They are the steady presence on the bench.

The calm during the timeout.

The steady hand when everything feels overwhelming.

While officers run toward crisis, the Chaplaincy runs toward the human side of that crisis.

They provide spiritual care, emotional support, and compassionate presence to officers, first responders, and community members during tragedy scenes, death notifications, critical incidents, and personal loss.

They don’t ask about denominations.

They don’t check the scoreboard.

They simply show up.

Day or night.

On dark roadways.

In hospital rooms.

In living rooms where life has suddenly changed.

They bring faith in action.

In basketball, you can’t win with offense alone. You need heart. You need teammates who hold you up when you’re exhausted.

The Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy plays that role for our officers and our community. They help carry burdens most of us will never fully see. They remind officers that strength includes vulnerability. They remind families they are not alone. They remind our community that compassion still wins championships.

Their work bridges faith and public safety — building trust, hope, and healing where it’s needed most.

And what makes them extraordinary is how they serve: quietly. No spotlight. No applause. Just faithful commitment.

That’s championship character.

We honor them not just for what they do, but for how they do it — with humility, courage, and compassion.

To the Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy: thank you for being the steady presence in the fourth quarter. Thank you for being the calm in the huddle. Thank you for standing beside those who protect and serve.

You may not wear a jersey — but you are absolutely part of the team.

We proudly recognize you for Community Service by a Faith Organization.  Without you, we wouldn’t have a prayer.
