In Rancho Cordova, we have a very special definition of “just volunteering.”

It means you show up one Saturday to help with Opening Day…

And suddenly you know how to drag an infield, run a snack bar, schedule umpires, fix a scoreboard, and answer 47 emails before breakfast.

Around here, “I’ll help out” turns into “I guess I live at the ballpark now.”

And that’s exactly how legends are made.

And that includes two of Rancho Cordova’s finest: Cassie and Alex Reyes of Rancho Cordova Little League.

If leadership were a basketball game, these two would be running the perfect alley-oop — vision, trust, timing — always lifting everyone around them higher than they thought possible.

Let’s start with Cassie.

She didn’t just step up to the plate — she stepped into leadership during one of the most difficult moments in league history. After the sudden passing of President Dennis Lamantia, Cassie accepted the responsibility of guiding Rancho Cordova Little League forward.

In a season marked by grief and uncertainty, she became the steady presence our community needed. With compassion, strength, and calm resolve, she helped families, volunteers, and players navigate that transition — always keeping the focus exactly where it belongs: on the kids.

Like a seasoned point guard, Cassie sees the whole field. She anticipates challenges before they happen. She builds consensus. She keeps the team moving forward — even when the game feels tough.

Her leadership has been steady. Thoughtful. And absolutely clutch.

And then there’s Alex.

Now, if you’ve spent any time at our local fields — from Mather to Hagan to every patch of grass in between — you’ve probably seen Alex.

Because he’s always there.

In youth sports, there’s an unspoken rule: when one spouse joins the board, the other spouse eventually gets drafted. But Alex didn’t just get drafted — he signed a long-term contract.

He serves as a board member, manages two Little League teams, and coaches Travel Baseball. He’s at practices, games, field days, late-night planning meetings — and those quiet moments when a young player needs a little extra confidence.

For twelve years, Alex has been a cornerstone of Rancho Cordova Little League. His commitment goes far beyond innings and scoreboards. He’s shaping character. Teaching resilience. Modeling sportsmanship.

And that dedication earned him recognition as Rancho Cordova Little League’s Volunteer of the Year — though anyone who’s watched him work already knew that.

Together, Cassie and Alex represent what makes Rancho Cordova special.

They don’t just organize schedules — they build community.

They don’t just coach baseball — they shape young leaders.

They don’t just show up — they show up consistently.

Because of them, our kids learn how to work as a team. How to handle adversity. How to win with humility and lose with grace.

Cassie and Alex, thank you for the early mornings, the late nights, and the countless unseen hours. Thank you for carrying the league through tough seasons and for celebrating the joyful ones.

Rancho Cordova’s youth are stronger because of you.

Our families are grateful because of you.

And our community is better because you keep stepping up to the plate.

You are true MVPs — not just of a league, but of this city.
